Hi, I’m nicole atwood.

Hello, and welcome! My name is Nicole Atwood, and I’m a professional dog trainer based in Central Maine. With several years of experience in the field, I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of dogs, from family pets to high-drive working breeds, and I’m excited to bring my expertise to this wonderful community.

Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry. I’ve mentored under Lisa Lucero, owner of Dog Dynamix in Arvada, Colorado; Shaina Zimmerman, now owner of Up N Atom Dog Training in Ohio; and Nick Gamez-Ramos, owner of Chomps Dog Training in Erie, Colorado. These experiences have enriched my training philosophy and allowed me to refine my skills, helping dogs achieve lasting success in both pet obedience and sport.

In addition to my professional work, I am an avid competitor in dog sports. My spicy Belgian Malinois, Chili, and I have competed in French Ring and Mondioring, where we’ve had the opportunity to challenge ourselves and grow together. My journey into dog training began with a timid and fearful Rhodesian Ridgeback named Shaka, and a dog-reactive German Shepherd named Keno, whose journey’s through obedience and sports transformed their confidence—and sparked my passion for training.

I believe that every dog is unique, and my goal is to foster a deeper connection between you and your dog, creating an enjoyable, positive training experience that lasts. Whether you're looking to address behavioral issues or simply want a well-trained dog to enjoy life’s adventures with, I'm here to guide you and your pet every step of the way.

Accomplishments

A trainer with sports experience not only has a deep understanding of dog behavior, motivation, and training techniques but also has proven accomplishments in the sport world. These achievements serve as proof of their expertise and ability to train dogs effectively. The skills developed through competitive dog sports—such as precision, motivation, consistency, and focus—translate well into helping pet dogs become well-behaved, responsive, and balanced. This background allows the trainer to use advanced methods to address behavioral issues, build strong communication between you and your dog, and create a structured training plan that supports a positive and enjoyable relationship.
